Detroit Tigers

The marquee reads:

"Detroit Tigers Welcome
Grace Bible Chuch
Southgate, MI
To Comerica Park, 2010"

On april 29th a group from Grace Bible church had a great time enjoying one of America's favorite past times, enjoying a baseball game at Comerica Park. The group gathered for a limo bus ride to the stadium entrance, and were picked up afterwards for a ride home that ended with fellowship & dinner. The Detroit Tigers treated everyone to 3 to 0 win over the Minnesota Twins.

It was a first time visit for some in the group, so a walk around the stadium was a must. One thing that stood out on the tour for me was the statue of Ernie Harwell, a baseball legend and a brother in the Lord, admired by so many! Little did we know the Lord would soon call him Home.

My Tribute to Ernie Harwell, Jan 25 1918 - May 7 2010

Rounding third and heading home,
Fans all standing at the character you have shown!

The players listen, it's over the wall,
There's nothing like hearing Ernie make the call!

Hot dog vendors doing their part,
But it's baseball's Ernie who warms our hearts!

Being on Ernie's team no one ever came up short,
Our lives are much richer, cause Ernie's the greatest sport!

When he crosses that plate to the real Hall of Fame,
All heaven will rejoice, because they already know his name!

When it comes to fond memories of baseball and stories of ode,
There will be Ernie
