For by grace you have been saved through faith.
And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God

2014 Downriver Car Cruise

Saturday, June 28, 2014

Grace Bible Church will again have an outreach
on Fort Street in Lincoln Park during the cruise.
It will be staged in front of the former
Downriver Christian Library Building at
3755 Fort St.

Beginning now and continuing up to the date of
the cruise, GBC members are asked to donate
small-sized bottles of water so that we can hand them
out to thirsty cruise attendees, along with
gospel tracts, as they pass by our
Cruise Outreach Station.

Volunteers from the congregation are also being
sought to help setup and man the Cruise Outreach Station
during the hours of 10:00 am - 4:00 pm that
Saturday. Even those who can only donate a couple
of hours of time to this effort would be greatly
appreciated. Please contact Joel Ashby if you are
interested in volunteering.

The water may be left in the church foyer
under the coat rack.

Thank You!

Remembering

Memorial Day 2014

Memorial Day, formally known as Decoration Day, originated after the American Civil War to commemorate fallen soldiers of the Civil War. This practice of decorating the graves of fallen soldiers has now been extended to all soldiers lost in service to their country.

The flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day. The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon, their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all.
